Marketmews — neighbourhood grocery app
A concept grocery app for local shops: browse by category, build a basket, and choose collection or local delivery, with live stock from the shop.

This is an illustrative concept study, not a client engagement. It describes a reference approach rather than delivered results.
Independent grocers lose orders to delivery apps that take a heavy commission and own the customer relationship. A shop's own app only works if ordering is genuinely easier than the alternatives.
The challenge
Independent grocers lose orders to delivery apps that take a heavy commission and own the customer relationship. A shop's own app only works if ordering is genuinely easier than the alternatives.
Our approach
Marketmews is built around a fast basket: familiar category browsing, clear prices, and a choice between collection and local delivery. Stock comes from the shop's own inventory so customers are not disappointed at the door.
Key features
- Category browsing with search
- Basket with quantities and running total
- Collection or local delivery selection
- Order status updates from the shop
The stack
React Native app connected to the shop's inventory backend, with order management in a staff console.
What this demonstrates
A local-commerce pattern that lets independent shops take direct orders without marketplace commissions.
